Project Spotlights
Smart Contracts for the SDGs: Implementation Guidance and ISO PAS 24874
In February 2025, DTID, formerly the Blockchain & Climate Institute (BCI), partnered with SeeBlocks.eu, funded by the European Union, to develop implementation guidance for smart contracts supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The project provides practical guidance for designing transparent, efficient, and trusted smart contract applications while contributing to ISO PAS 24874 under ISO/TC 307.
Feasibility Assessment for an ISO Standard on Artificial Intelligence
In May 2025, DTID, formerly the Blockchain & Climate Institute (BCI), partnered with StandICT.eu, funded by the European Union, to assess the feasibility of developing an international ISO standard supporting the responsible deployment of Artificial Intelligence. The research examines interoperability, transparency, cybersecurity, ethics, and implementation challenges while contributing toward future international AI standards.
DLT Selection Evaluation System: Decision Tree and Grading Framework
In September 2024, DTID, formerly the Blockchain & Climate Institute (BCI), delivered a technical framework for evaluating distributed ledger technologies through a structured decision tree and grading methodology. The framework helps organisations determine whether DLT is appropriate for a given use case and identify the most suitable implementation approach.
Digital Asset Management on Distributed Ledger Technologies
In March 2025, DTID, formerly the Blockchain & Climate Institute (BCI), partnered with BlockStand.eu to develop guidance supporting digital asset management on distributed ledger technologies. The initiative examines environmental considerations, digital identity, EBSI Verifiable Credentials, eIDAS2, MiCA, and governance frameworks supporting responsible digital asset ecosystems.
Governing Carbon Markets with Distributed Ledger Technology
Following the success of Transforming Climate Finance and Green Investment with Blockchains, DTID, formerly the Blockchain & Climate Institute (BCI), completed Governing Carbon Markets with Distributed Ledger Technology, published by Cambridge University Press. The publication became a leading reference supporting governments, policymakers, and international organisations exploring blockchain governance.

Since 2021, DTID, formerly the Blockchain & Climate Institute (BCI), has organised annual Technology Information Sessions supporting policymakers, regulators, and government representatives through practical education on emerging digital technologies and international policy developments.
